Gender based violence is not inevitable and good public policy and practice can and should address it. But it has to be a priority. Our public affairs strategy works to improve government policy and practice on violence against women and girls in the UK, by presenting decision-makers with a compelling case for change based on evidence, through lobbying, advocacy and public campaigning.
We are looking for an exceptional person to become our new public affairs manager, to lead the development of ambitious, high-impact strategies to influence change for women and girls. These strategies will bring together public campaigning and lobbying plans, including identifying high-level influencing opportunities to achieve policy and advocacy objectives.
Together with the co-directors, you will design compelling messages to engage external audiences to achieve political objectives, working closely with colleagues in our small, committed team.
To achieve in this role, you will have substantial experience of working in advocacy in the UK at a national and regional level. You will have an understanding of the role of devolved governments, regional and city political structures have on the services our members deliver, and the policies which affect women and girls. You will have previously devised high-impact influencing strategies and have substantial experience of using advocacy to achieve political change.
It is important that you are able to demonstrate sound political judgment, and the ability to predict future trends in public campaigning. Most of all we are looking for someone who is committed to ending violence against women and girls.
