Jodie* wins Campaigner of the Year

We’re thrilled that last week (11th June 2026), Jodie, a survivor and campaigner against image-based abuse, was awarded Campaigner of the Year at the Sheila McKechnie Foundation awards!

In 2021, Jodie’s life was turned upside down when she received an anonymous email directing her to a series of images of herself that had been shared online, alongside information about who she was and where she lived. Just a few weeks later, a second email directed her to an online forum where users had created and published sexually explicit deepfake imagery of her. When she reported this to the police, they told her no offence had been committed.

We have campaigned alongside Jodie, #NotYourPorn, Professor Clare McGlynn and Glamour UK for stronger government action to hold tech companies accountable and stop image-based abuse. Jodie’s petition calling for action on image-based abuse gained the support of more than 73,000 people and played a significant role in securing recent new laws that criminalise this abuse, introduce a requirement for abusive content to be taken down within 48 hours, and increase accountability for the tech platforms that facilitate and profit from abuse.

Jodie has tirelessly campaigned against image-based abuse for many years, sharing her story in the media, Parliament, with police leaders and more – securing legal change and contributing to a shift in how online abuse and its devastating impact on women and girls is understood across society. We are delighted and deeply proud that her tenacity has been recognised with this prestigious award.

EVAW wins Pagefield Awards Digital Campaign of the Year

Another exciting win happened this week (17th June 2026) as EVAW won Digital Campaign of the Year at the Pagefield Awards. This win recognised our use of digital platforms to share research, respond to breaking news, and amplify survivors’ voices. Through this work, we have helped bring violence against women and girls into wider public discussion and maintained pressure on policymakers to take action.

We are grateful to our campaign partners and everyone who has shared our campaigns and supported our work to create a safer internet for women and girls.
